5/1 TNA Impact Results

Photobucket
~Last week on Impact, it's announced that Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle vs. Scott Steiner for the TNA World Title will headline TNA's next PPV, Sacrifice, the Deuces Wild Tag Team Tournament is announced to crown new TNA Tag Team Champions, Matt Morgan jumps Kip James for no reason, Eric Young continues to deny that he is "SUPER" Eric Young and the Motor City Machineguns continue to lose matches in TNA. Here's what happened this week:

Photobucket
-The show starts with Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin (The Motor City Machineguns) and Shark Boy and Curry Man having a match.

Photobucket
-However, Scott Steiner, TNA X-Division Champion, Petey Williams and Racka Khan interrupt and clear the ring.

Photobucket
-Scott Steiner says that he'll beat Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle at Sacrifice and become the new TNA World Champion.

Photobucket
-Kurt Angle comes out but he gets beat down.

Photobucket
-Then TNA World Champion, Samoa Joe, runs down and clears the rings.

Photobucket
-AJ Styles says his usual tag team partner, Tomko, has been suspended by TNA and that he will need a new partner for the Deuces Wild Tag Team Tournament.

Photobucket
-Angelina Love & Velvet Sky are challenged to a match by Gail Kim & ODB for later that night. Love & Sky accept.

Photobucket
-AJ Styles asks Booker T to be his tag team partner, but Booker has no idea who he is. [Ha]

Photobucket
-Homicide y Hernandez (the Latin American Xchange) beat Kaz & "regular" Eric Young in a Deuces Wild Tag Team Tournament Qualifying match.

Photobucket
-Kip James attacks Matt Morgan as revenge for that beatdown Morgan gave him last week.

Photobucket
-AJ asks Kevin Nash to be his partner, but that doesn't happen.

Photobucket
-Gail Kim & ODB beat Angelina Love & Velvet Sky.

Photobucket
-Both Robert Roode and James Storm decline being AJ's tag partner.

Photobucket
-AJ Styles & "SUPER" Eric Young beat Jimmy Rave & Lance Hoyt in a Deuces Wild Tag Team Tournament Qualifying match. What?

Photobucket
-The Terror Dome is announced as the newest TNA speciality match that will debut at Sacrifice.

Photobucket
-Cheerleader Melissa defeats Daisy Haze.

Photobucket
-Samoa Joe & Kurt Angle beat Scott Steiner & Petey Williams.

Photobucket
-Scott Steiner ends up laying everybody out.

Photobucket
-TNA Management Director, Jim Cornette, comes down to the ring and announces that 4 teams have qualified for the Deuces Wild Tag Tourney (Team 3D, Christian Cage/Rhino, LAX, AJ Styles/Super Eric Young) and that there are 4 spots left. He goes on to say that those spots will be filled by 4 teams made up of 8 randomly paired TNA wrestlers. He announces that those wrestlers will be Matt Morgan, Kip James, BG James, James Storm, Booker T, Robert Roode, Sting and TNA Women's Champion, Awesome Kong.

The looks on the faces of the other participants of the Deuces Wild Tag Team Tournament when Awesome Kong was announced as an entraint was just priceless. I'm curious to see just where, and how silly, TNA will take this.

I don't know exactly where the new TERROR DOME~! is going to fit into the Sacrifice event, but it sounds cool.

Booker T not knowing who AJ Styles was had to be the highlight of the night.

Speaking of AJ Styles, he and SUPER Eric Young had a pretty solid match with Jimmy Rave and Lance Hoyt, I especially liked the finish.

-This episode of Impact also marked the return of the Canadian Destroyer~! I love that move.

TNA Destination X PPV Results

Photobucket
~TNA held their Pay-Per-View Event from Norfolk, VA, last night. I'd say the show definetely had its moments and other times where just painfully dull. Here's what went down:

Photobucket
-Homicide & Hernandez (The Latin American Exchange) beat Jimmy Rave & Lance Hoyt (The Rock & Rave Infection) and Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin (The Motor City Machine Guns) in a sick match to become the #1 contenders for the TNA Tag Team Titles.

Photobucket
-“Black Machismo” Jay Lethal remains TNA X-Division Champion after beating Petey Williams.

Photobucket
-Kaz gets beat on for the majority of his match with Rellik & Black Reign after his tag partner, Eric Young, abandons him in the middle of the match. However, Young returns as “Super” Eric Young and wins the match for his team.

Photobucket
-TNA Women’s Champion Awesome Kong continues on a roll and defeats ODB and Gail Kim in a three way match to retain her title.

Photobucket
-Before the Team 3D/Shark Boy & Curry Man match, Brother Ray and Brother Devon have to weigh in under 275 lbs. or they’ll be fired. Both members of Team 3D make weight so they keep their jobs and are able to start their match.

Photobucket
-Shark Boy & Curry Man defeat Team 3D in a “Fish Market Street Fight”. Right. After the match, Team 3D shove some guy from Survivor who’s at ringside. Security hauls the guy away even though he did absolutely nothing.

Photobucket
-Robert Roode beats Booker T. Because of this, Traci Brooks, who accompanied Booker to the ring, has to receive 10 “lashes” from a leather strap by Roode’s assistant, Peyton Banks.

Photobucket
-Peyton Banks whips Traci Brooks with the leather strap 10 times, and then she whips her some more. Robert Roode even takes a shot.

Photobucket
-Eventually, Sharmell, Booker T’s wife, who had her jaw broken by Roode a few months back, makes her return to TNA and starts hit Roode, Banks and everyone in sight with a leather strap.

Photobucket
-Rhino kicks James Storm off Elevation X to win their match.

Photobucket
-Samoa Joe, Kevin Nash & Christian Cage defeat TNA World Champion, Kurt Angle and TNA World Tag Team Champions, AJ Styles & Tomko in a six man tag match.

That opening tag match was just fire and it was a great choice as an opener. Who knew Hernandez could fly over the top rope like that.

Speaking of that tag match, the Motor City Machine Guns have got to have some of the best double team moves in wrestling today.

Who cares if Petey Williams only knows one move, I know if I could only do one move, it would be the Canadian Destroyer.

“Super” Eric Young is now my new favorite TNA gimmick.

Kong wins again, she’s a monster.

Seriously, whose idea was it to make the Team 3D/Shark Boy & Curry Man match a “fish market street fight”. There is a thin line between something that’s silly and funny and something that’s silly and ridiculous. Guess which one this falls under. Well, I really shouldn't talk since I just said "Super" Eric Young was my new favorite TNA gimmick.

For a match that was billed as providing so much excitement, the Elevation X match with Rhino and James Storm was, hands down, the most boring match on the card. Yes, the concept is different and unique for TNA but if you’re gonna be different and unique, do something so it’s watchable.

I know I said if I could only know how to do one move it would be the Canadian Destroyer but I’d say AJ Styles’ Spiral Tap is a close second.

The crowd was so hyped after the first two or three matches and after that, they were just dead. I’ve never seem an event where the crowd starts out so hot and the show’s main attraction (Elevation X) and main event (the six man tag) take them out of the show completely. That’s just sad.

TNA News + Explaination of how ROH can use TNA talent

2/21 TNA Impact Results
Photobucket
TNA’s Impact television show aired last night, here’s what happened:

-AJ Styles and Tomko successfully defended the TNA World Tag Team Titles against Kip James & Bob Armstrong. Kip James turns heel after allowing Armstrong to get pinned. Kip James then attacks his long-time friend, BG James.

-Newlyweds AJ Styles and Karen Angle (Kurt Angle’s wife) go on their honeymoon. And yes, she’s also still married to Kurt Angle. How that's legal, I don't know.

-A celebration ceremony is held for the new TNA X-Division Champion, “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal.

-Kaz beats Rellik

-Petey Williams becomes the #1 contender for the X-Division Title after beating Sonjay Dutt and Johnny Devine thanks to interference from Scott Steiner.

-Brother Ray of Team 3D defeats Shark Boy & Curry Man.

-A miscommunication leads to Gail Kim and ODB losing to Miss Jacqueline & Roxxi Laveaux. A brawl breaks out between Kim and ODB after the match.

-Kurt Angle (rocking the tube socks) beats Booker T and then is challenged by Kevin Nash to a one-on-one match for next week.

Kurt Angle and AJ Styles are apart of a stable [group] called the Angle Alliance. Kurt Angle is married to his wife, Karen Angle. However, AJ Styles just recently get hitched with Karen Angle. Despite this, it seems the group is as tight as ever. I’m sorry but if my “friend” was married to my wife, we would no longer be friends, I would no longer be married and someone would have to stop me from killing that former “friend”. But that’s just me.

Nash vs. Angle next week should be a bore.

I really enjoy the whole Curry Man gimmick. I hope TNA keeps him on TV.

I’m glad Kip James turned heel since I’ve always thought he was better as a bad guy. However, once this feud with BG James ends, I don’t see TNA doing much with him after that.

I think they could have drawn out the tension between ODB and Gail Kim a little longer. They just started having issues with each other last week and already they want to kill each other. Very poor pacing for that feud.

Current Card for TNA's "Destination X" PPV
Photobucket
TNA’s next PPV, Destination X, takes place on Sunday, March 9 from Norfolk, Virginia. Here’s the latest card for the show:

Kurt Angle, AJ Styles & Tomko (The Angle Alliance) vs. Samoa Joe, Christian Cage & Kevin Nash.

Rhino vs. James Storm in an Elevation X match

TNA X-Division Title Match: Jay Lethal [champion] vs. Petey Williams [challenger]

Booker T vs. Robert Roode

The only match I want to see at the moment is the X-Division title match, everything else just doesn’t seem of interest to me.

This PPV will mark the second time TNA has used the Elevation X match. I didn’t see the first one, so I’m not all that familiar with it. Here’s a clip:

Footage of TNA's House Show from Webster Hall

~TNA held a live event from Webster Hall in NYC last night [they tape Impact on Mondays and air it on Thursdays].

Here are the results from the show:

-The Motor City Machine Guns beat Jimmy Rave & Lance Hoyt

-Jay Lethal beat Sonjay Dutt

-Team 3D beat LAX

-Samoa Joe beat AJ Styles

-James Storm beat Eric Young

-Awesome Kong beat Gail Kim and Miss. Jacqueline

-Kurt Angle successfully defends the TNA World Title against Christian Cage

ROH can use TNA Talent After All
Photobucket
(TNA tag team, The Motor City Machine Guns)

~Yesterday, ROH announced that TNA wrestlers, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley, collectively known as the Motor City Machine Guns, would be in action for a couple of their shows in April. This seemed pretty odd because TNA has prohibited their talent from working for ROH and many other independent promotions since May 2007.

Luckily, the folks at pwinsider.com helped shed some light on the situation:

“We’ve received a lot of queries stemming from ROH announcing that they were booking TNA stars The Motor City Machineguns for their Mid-West events in April. There isn’t as much to the story as one may think. ROH has never been prevented from using TNA stars, but have backed off on using them since they moved to PPV. ROH has been allowed to book TNA talents as long as they abide by the same rules as any other promotion using TNA talents – the matches cannot appear on television, PPV or be sold via any retail outlet except by the promotion itself.”

Major Players in Pro Wrestling: TNA

Total Nonstop Action
Total Nonstop Action is generally regarded as the #2 wrestling promotion in North America. Unlike WWE, which has been around for decades, TNA is a younger company that was established in 2002. They claim to be an alternative to WWE and, originally, they actually were.

For one thing, TNA is one of the few wrestling promotions in the world to use a six-sided ring [a ring is traditionally has four sides]. While WWE placed an emphasis on really huge, muscular wrestlers who normally work slower paced matches, TNA focused on smaller wrestlers, who may have not been as physically impressive but worked fasted paced matches and provided a lot more excitement [hence the name “Total Nonstop Action”].

However, in the last year or so, TNA actually comes off more as a poor man’s version of the WWE. They currently have a lot of former WWE wrestlers, they use just as many [silly] storylines as the WWE and some of the gimmicks of the TNA wrestlers are parodies of WWE stars. But hey, they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Although the company headquarters is based in Tennessee, TNA usually holds their weekly TV show, Impact, in Orlando, Florida, which is different from the WWE, who tours all over the world. However, they’ve recently begun holding monthly pay-per-view [the biggest event a wrestling promotion holds] in cities outside of Florida like Detroit, Michigan and Greenville, South Carolina.

Here are some of TNA's current big stars:

Kurt Angle

Photobucket
Kurt Angle is the current TNA World Heavyweight Champion and is an actual Olympic gold medalist in Men’s freestyle wrestling from the 1996 Games. Angle is also a former WWE talent and was one of their biggest stars before leaving for TNA. “The Olympic Hero” is very intense in the ring and uses a lot of grappling based moves such as suplexes [a move that has a wrestler grab an opponent, pick them off the ground and use their body weight to slam them back down], slams and submissions.

Samoa Joe
Photobucket
Samoa Joe is arguably the most popular and one of the more unique wrestlers on the TNA roster. Despite his size, Joe is surprisingly quick and agile. “The Samoan Submission Machine” wrestles a very physical style, so physical, that the fans chant “Joe is gonna kill you,” to Joe’s opponents before his matches.

Christian Cage

Photobucket
“The Instant Classic” Christian Cage is a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion. He is also uses to wrestle for the WWE, where he was apart of a successful tag team with Edge [WWE’s current World Heavyweight Champion]. For the majority of his time in TNA, Christian has played the cocky, overconfident heel. However, after a recent face turn, now he’s a cocky, overconfident babyface. Regardless of his disposition, Christian has lots of charisma and always gives entertaining interviews.

Booker T
Photobucket
Booker T is a former 5-time, 5-time, 5-time, 5-time, 5-time World Champion [but he’s actually never won a belt in TNA] and he is also recently new addition to the roster. Guess what promotion he worked for last. WWE, anyone? Booker T is a pretty exciting wrestler and also is very entertaining on the microphone.

AJ Styles
Photobucket
AJ Styles is one of the few wrestlers to have been with TNA from the beginning. He is currently a co-holder of the TNA Tag Team Titles and is the only person on the roster to have held every belt in the company. AJ Styles’ can be referred to as a “human highlight reel” because of his high-flying maneuvers in the ring.
