~The show starts with the new ECW champion, Kane, coming down to the ring and saying that the “Age of Kane” is upon us [no, he didn’t say that but I thought the name “Age of Orton” from Monday’s Raw was pretty cool).
-CM Punk, holder of the Money in the Bank briefcase, comes down to the ring and teases cashing in his opportunity for a world title shot against Kane (I hope not).
-Former ECW Champion, Chavo Guerrero makes an appearance and challenges Kane and CM Punk to a tag match against him and “Goldylocks” Shelton Benjamin in the show’s main event. Kane and Punk accept.
-Mike Knox beats Stevie Richards.
-The WWE contract-less, Colin Delaney, is offered an official WWE contract by ECW General Manager, Armando Estrada. Then Estrada tells Delaney that it was an April Fool’s Joke [HA!] and says if he wants to get a WWE contract, he’ll have to beat The Big Show in a match.
-So yeah, that doesn’t happen, Colin Delaney is still without a WWE contract and Big Show got an easy payday.
-ECW Champion, Kane & CM Punk defeat Chavo Guerrero & Shelton Benjamin
I like Kane as ECW champion. That’s one of the few things I like about ECW. Since it’s considered a lesser brand than Raw and Smackdown, they give people who don’t normally get a chance to shine, a platform to stand out.
Who the hell is Mike Knox? I remember the days when Stevie Richards was on a winning streak. Those days seem so far away now.
That April Fool’s Joke was great! I actually believed it.
Where, oh where, was Layla El??
Wednesday Wrestler Spotlight
~This week’s Wednesday Wrestler Spotlight is actually gonna be a wrestlers spotlight because two wrestlers are going to be featured today. I’m focusing on two wrestlers because they’re in a tag team together and you really can’t imagine one without the other, like peanut butter & jelly or ham & cheese or shampoo & conditioner, you get the idea.
This week’s Wednesday Wrestler Spotlight is on these guys:
Jesse & Festus
WWE’s Jesse & Festus are a relatively new tag team with Jesse providing the speed and Festus bringing the power. This team is unique because Festus is a little…special, and only seems to come alive when he hears a bell ring. Before and after that, as Santino Marella once said, “he’s got brain damage, Charlie Brown”.
I used to hate on Jesse & Festus when I first saw them because I just didn’t like their gimmick, but I’ve definitely come around and have found the duo to be one of the few bright spots on Smackdown.
Besides the comedy, Jesse & Festus really are a solid tag team, plus they’ve got the best theme song in pro wrestling today.
I don’t have much else to say about this team, so here’s another clip.
